- How to enter – No purchase necessary. During the Contest Period, listen to Windsor’s Alternative 89X for the announcement of the keyword (the “Keyword”) to be made three (3) times on each weekday of the Contest Period, at approximately [7:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 4:00 p.m., Local Time] (each, an “Announcement”). There will be three (3) different Keywords every weekday of the Contest Period (excluding statutory holidays & Remembrance Day). For listeners with a disability, the Keyword will be announced in closed captioning. When you hear the Announcement, you can enter the Contest as follows:
- Text Entry: Text the Keyword along with your full name to 898989 (the “Text Entry”) during the Entry Period. You must have access to a cellular telephone capable of two-way text messaging. Text messaging is not available in all areas. Standard text messaging fees apply (check your carrier plan for details).
- Email Entry: To enter without sending a text message, send an email during the Entry Period to contestsswo@bellmedia.ca with “CASH-HOLE” in the subject line and include your name, address, ten-digit day and evening telephone numbers, email address, and the Keyword in the body of the email (the “Email Entry”).
All Text Entries and Email Entries must be submitted within ten (10) minutes after the applicable Announcement (the “Entry Period”). Text Entries and Email Entries are referred to as “Entries” (each, an “Entry”). Limit of one (1) Entry per individual per Keyword, regardless of the method of entry. You may not share the Keywords on an online forum or in any other way. If you attempt to enter more than once per Keyword or share the Keywords, all your Entries will be void.
- Prizes – The following prizes are available:
- Secondary Prizes: There are up to seventy two (72) secondary prizes available to be won (each, a “Secondary Prize”). Each Secondary Prize consists of a cheque for one hundred dollars ($100 CAD). The number of Secondary Prizes available decreases throughout the contest as they are awarded. Limit of one (1) Secondary Prize per household.
- Grand Prize: There is one (1) grand prize available to be won (the “Grand Prize”), consisting of a cheque for up to ten thousand dollars ($10,000 CAD).
- How winning entries are selected – Winning entries are selected through a two-stage process: Qualifying Draws held throughout the Contest Period, and a Grand Prize Draw held after the Contest Period ends.
Qualifying Draws – After each Announcement during the Contest Period (excluding statutory holidays), we will hold a random draw (each, a “Qualifying Draw”) at Bell Media Inc., Windsor, from all eligible Entries received during the applicable Entry Period.
- Qualifier Selection: The first Entry drawn in each Qualifying Draw becomes a “Qualifier.” Each Qualifier may choose to either: (a) keep the $100 Secondary Prize (which reduces the Grand Prize fund); or (b) forfeit the $100 and become a “Grand Prize Qualifier” eligible for the Grand Prize Draw described below.
- Contacting Qualifiers: The on-air announcer of Windsor’s Alternative 89X will attempt to contact each potential Qualifier by telephone immediately after the applicable Qualifying Draw. If the potential Qualifier cannot be contacted after three (3) attempts, does not answer the call, is unavailable to come to the telephone, or if an answering machine or voicemail picks up, they will not be eligible to win a Secondary Prize or enter the Grand Prize Draw. We may choose to draw another potential Qualifier from Entries received during that same Entry Period. This process will repeat until a Qualifier is selected.
- On-air requirements: Each potential Qualifier will be announced on-air and may be required to chat with the announcer. If there is not a clear telephone connection such that one or both parties cannot hear the other, the potential Qualifier will be disqualified, and we will not be liable for the failed connection. Each potential Qualifier must provide their name, address, email address, and telephone number to a station representative.
- Long distance charges: If you are outside the local calling area, standard long distance rates charged by your service provider will apply.
Grand Prize Draw – On November 30, 2026 at approximately 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. ET we will hold a random draw for the Grand Prize (the “Grand Prize Draw”) at Bell Media Inc., Windsor, from all eligible Grand Prize Qualifiers selected during the Contest Period. The first Grand Prize Qualifier drawn will be eligible to win the Grand Prize.
- How potential winners are notified – After the Grand Prize Draw, we will attempt to contact the potential Grand Prize winner by telephone up to six (6) times within five (5) hours. The potential winner must answer the call or be available to come to the telephone to be eligible to win. If we cannot contact the potential winner after six (6) attempts within five (5) hours the potential winner will be disqualified, and we may choose to draw another potential winner. To be declared a winner, you must:
- Answer a mathematical skill-testing question correctly, without assistance;
- Complete, sign, and return the release form within five (5) days; and
- Upon request, provide valid proof of identification and proof of account ownership.
- Acceptance of prize – Prizes must be accepted as awarded, are non-transferable, and cannot be converted to cash. Once a prize is awarded, you assume all responsibility and risk associated with it, such as compliance with any instructions, conditions of use, and all costs not expressly included. We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to substitute a prize, in whole or in part, with one of equal or greater value and quality if the advertised prize becomes unavailable. Actual prizes may differ from those shown in advertising.
- Chances of winning – The chances of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries received and the number of prizes. Specifically: (a) your odds of becoming a Qualifier depend on the total number of eligible Entries received during the applicable Entry Period; and (b) your odds of winning the Grand Prize depend on the number of Grand Prize Qualifiers and shall be no worse than 1 in 120.
- Account holder – When you enter the contest through an account (for example, email, text message, or social media), the entry will be attributed to the account holder. We may require proof, to our satisfaction, that you are the account holder. You may not enter using more than one account, and entries from multiple accounts may be disqualified.
- Submissions – All content you submit must be original and respect the intellectual property and privacy rights of others. You must not submit content that infringes third-party rights or that is defamatory or obscene. We may require you to provide proof that your content is original and that you have permission from everyone depicted or named in the content. While you retain ownership of your content, you authorize us to use it, in whole or in part, for contest purposes, including communication on air or online.
- Time – All time references are based on timestamps from our servers or related timekeeping systems. The eligibility of entries is therefore determined by when we receive them, not when you send them. Broadcast delays may occur depending on the method used to listen to the radio, such as analog radio compared to online streaming.
- Disqualification of non-compliant entries – We may, in our discretion, disqualify any of your entries if you do not follow these rules, or for any other reason to ensure the contest is fair. Examples of reasons for disqualification include:
- You enter more times than permitted;
- Your entry is not received in time;
- You provide false information (for example, fake names or contact details you do not hold);
- You disrupt the contest or its website, including with programs, macros, or AI;
- Your entry is incomplete, ineligible, or has been tampered with;
- Your entry is not original or uses someone else’s intellectual property;
- Your entry contains negative, obscene, offensive, or disparaging content.
- Disqualification of potential winners – Even though your entry was selected, we may disqualify you and may, at our discretion, select another entry if:
- You do not respond to our attempts to communicate with you, for example, if your account settings prevent us from reaching you;
- You did not correctly answer the mathematical skill-testing question;
- You did not complete, sign, or return the release form within five (5) days;
- You or anyone in your household won a major prize (valued at $1000 or more) from any contest managed by Bell Media Inc. during the 30 days preceding the entry selection date of this contest.
If we are unsuccessful in contacting you, we are not required to select other entries after four (4) business days following the applicable Prize draw. The number of prizes awarded may be less than the total number of prizes.
- Winner’s conduct – All prize winners (and their guests, if applicable) must conduct themselves responsibly. We may disqualify a winner if their actions, past or present, are offensive, result in criminal charges or conviction, create public scandal or ridicule, cause or are likely to cause us reputational harm, or disparage our products or services. Disqualification will result in forfeiture of the prize, and no alternative will be provided.
- Social media (when applicable) – This contest is not sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), or TikTok (collectively, the “Platforms”). You provide information to us, not to the Platforms. By entering, you fully release each Platform and its owners from all liability related to this contest. Direct any questions, comments, or complaints about this contest to us, not the Platforms. Your entry must comply with the relevant Platform’s terms and community guidelines. Specifically: (a) if entering on Instagram, do not inaccurately tag content (for example, by tagging people not in a photo); and (b) if entering on X, do not create multiple accounts or post duplicate content. We reserve the right to remove any entry that violates these terms or any Platform’s guidelines, which may result in disqualification, at our sole discretion.
- No liability – We, as well as the sponsor(s) and the prize provider(s), are not liable to you or anyone for any damage relating to this contest, including but not limited to: (a) any lost, late, incomplete, inaccurate, damaged, destroyed, deleted, or misdirected entries, regardless of the cause or whether it is within our control; (b) any malfunction of your equipment or ours, communication connections, or our website; (c) any human or technical error, or negligence; (d) any delay in broadcast, whether caused by us or by your method of listening; and (e) any loss, injury, or damage arising from your participation in this contest or from the prize.
